Oregon • Dundee Hills • Willamette Valley

In the summer of 2000, Greg Sanders knocked on the door of an old farmhouse sitting at the top of the Dundee Hills in Oregon's Willamette Valley. The house was just up the gravel road from a few of Oregon's most notable wineries: Archery Summit, Domaine Drouhin Oregon and Domaine Serene. Surrounding the farmhouse was a small vineyard, self-rooted in 1980, that over the years had become known for the quality of its fruit. St. Innocent, Panther Creek and Torii Mor, had all purchased fruit from this site, bottling wines and designating them as "White Rose Vineyard". Having been an impassioned fan of pinot noir for many years, it was Greg's dream to own a vineyard from which he could produce artisanal, hand-made wines of outstanding quality. His search had led him to the top of this hill, and when he left, he took with him the deed to a dream.

  • 2013 White Rose Vineyard Pinot Noir

    Vintage: 2013
    Name: Willamette Valley
    Varietal: Pinot Noir
    Appellation: Dundee Hills
    Size: 750ml

” Moderately light cherry red color in the glass. Intoxicating aromas of cherry reduction sauce, exotic spices and wilted rose petal. The light to mid weight red cherry and cranberry flavors are nicely spiced and balanced with supple tannins and tight acidity. An underlying savory woodland flavor plays in the background. There is good grip on the red fruited, juicy finish that is both elegant and aromatic. Wines from this vineyard typically become more complex over time in bottle and this wine has the harmony to last. This wine brought back memories of a 1990 DRC Romanee-Conti wine I had the pleasure of drinking a number of years ago because of its lighter color and elegant yet flavorful demeanor. ” Score: 93-94 – Prince of Pinot

    Varietal: Pinot Noir
    Appellation: Dundee Hills
    Size: 750ml

” Light cherry red color in the glass. Penetrating and persistent aromas of darker cherry, raspberry, sandalwood, rose petal and spice. Impressive attack and finishing power with ideal integration of whole cluster character. Light to mid weight flavors of red cherry and raspberry fruits, prominent spice (cumin, nutmeg) framed by very fine grain, almost furry, tannins. When tasted two days later from a previously opened and re-corked bottle, the wine was still highly aromatic and even more flavorful, featuring cherry, spice and sandalwood in abundance. A highly nuanced wine with grand age ability. ” Score: 93 – Prince of Pinot

” Vivid red. Sexy, high-pitched aromas of fresh red berries, patchouli, candied rose and Asian spices. Silky, spicy and lithe on the palate, offering vibrant strawberry liqueur, blood orange, spice-cake and floral pastille flavors and hint of smoky minerality. In an exotic, racy style, showing plenty of flavor intensity and zero excess fat. Closes very long and spicy, with a whisper of fine-grained tannins adding subtle grip.” — Josh Raynolds | Vinous
